Key Features
  1. Entebbe: Located on the shores of Lake Victoria, Entebbe is a major town and the location of Uganda’s main international airport. It serves as the gateway to Uganda and offers attractions like the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), botanical gardens, and beautiful beaches along the lake.
  2. Kibale National Park: Known for its dense tropical rainforest, Kibale National Park is famous for its population of chimpanzees and other primates. It offers excellent opportunities for chimpanzee tracking and birdwatching, with over 350 bird species recorded in the park.
  3. Queen Elizabeth National Park: This is Uganda’s most popular and diverse national park, located in the western part of the country. It is known for its wide variety of wildlife including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. The park also features the stunning Kazinga Channel, which is a natural channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George.
  4. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Located in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its population of endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is the major attraction here, allowing visitors to hike through dense forest to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Itinerary

Day 1Entebbe

  • Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda.
  • Depending on your arrival time, you can visit the Botanical Gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (Entebbe Zoo).
  • Overnight stay in Entebbe.

Day 2Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Early morning departure from Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approximately 6-7 hours drive).
  • Afternoon/evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
  • Overnight stay in or near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 3Full Day Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Morning game drive to explore more of the park, searching for lions, elephants, buffalo, and more.
  • Boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon, known for its high concentration of hippos and birdlife.
  • Overnight stay in or near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 4Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale National Park

  • Early morning departure to Kibale National Park (approximately 3-4 hours drive).
  • Afternoon chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest, where you can also spot other primates.
  • Overnight stay near Kibale National Park.

Day 5Full Day Kibale National Park

  • Morning visit to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk, observing a variety of bird species and other wildlife.
  • Optional activities include visiting local communities or exploring more of Kibale’s trails.

Day 6Kibale National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

  • Depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (approximately 5-6 hours drive), with stops en route.
  • Arrival in Bwindi in the afternoon or evening, settling into your accommodation.
  • Overnight stay near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 7Full Day Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

  • Early morning trekking to track mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest. This can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla groups.
  • Afternoon at leisure or optional activities such as a community visit.
  • Overnight stay near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 8Full Day Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

  • Second gorilla trekking opportunity (if opting for a second permit and depending on availability).
  • Alternatively, you can explore more of Bwindi Forest or relax at your lodge.

Day 9Departure

  • Depart from Bwindi and travel back to Entebbe (approximately 8-9 hours drive).
  • Depending on your departure flight time, you may have some free time in Entebbe for souvenir shopping or last-minute sightseeing.
  • Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.

BUHOMA LODGE-BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST:

Buhoma Lodge, an intimate and charming property that commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to the rare and elusive Mountain Gorilla. One of only two lodges situated within the National Park, within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla tracking and other activities in the Buhoma area.
